Brook Road South area CPZ to go ahead

I do agree with Anthony,It is simply wrong to just creep a CPZ in street by street.It does not solve the core problem.If the CPZ that is proposed by the Brentford Football development is implemented then the zone will run from Lionle Road all the way to the Half Acre and all the new developments will be included.It will be more extreme, cost a lot more money and the root cause of the current problems will remain but legitimately.The zone should be a minimal one or two hour scheme and be bounded by ealing Road,The High Street, the Railway and  Half Acre.With so few respondents and such a narrow margin from those who did respond, it's not convincing either way. I'm not surprised as so many of the questions were loaded and the costs and detail were conflicting. How can a carers permit cost more than a normal permit? Why should a second car cost double when so many share a house but live independently and why are council tenants exempt?

Don't you believe it, Grosvenor road is choc a block with cars at the football with and they get a lot of long term parking as well as lots of vehicles with Brentford FC sponsorship parked up in the day. But the stuff from GWQ is far less as it's too far away.But these roads are packed every nightThe opposition I think is more to do with the  fact that they will have to pay for permits for a daytime problem which is not severe yet but see no improvement in the problem they have which is in the evenings That's because they know there will be more permits than spaces and the problems will remain except they will be paying dearly for it.And that remains the problem for all the area. What LBH or anyone else does not know is just how many cars and vans are residents vehicles in each street and how many are not.What they do know is that there are far fewer permit holding vehicles in Hamilton Road than there are houses and hardly a household with 2 permits.What we know is several Hamilton Road residents now park their cars and second cars in other surrounding streets including ours. Something they won't be able to do if the whole area has a CPZ.

Also worth mentioning Anthony that the biggest opposition against CPZ is in Mafeking Avenue and Grosvenor Road. They  hardly ever see GWQ residents and holiday makers parking their cars there. And they are the last to be affected by BFC fans.

The margin is way to low and close to say it's an overwhelming majority, even in the streets that clearly said yes.And less than half even replied at allSo just a quarter of residents said yes and almost the same said No.Hardly a mandate for anything.In anycase the BFC planners recommendations published today suggest a full blown 7 day  CPZ from Kew to Brentford Half Acre costing residents quite a lot.

And you have every right to do so Barbara. However the fact is, that the majority of streets close to the football grounds voted in favour. Including me and some of my neighbours.

I live in the road next to the football ground and I can tell you that I and a few of my neighbours definitely did not vote in favour!

That's because the problem is being magnified by GWQ and other developments.So the problem lessens as you get further away from it.It has to be a complete block zone Bounded by Ealing Road, the High street, Half Acre and Hamilton road.This street by street nonsense simply makes matters 100% worse and plays everyone into the hands of those who want to screw more money out of us.For a problem cased by others who simply do not listen or act in the interests of existing residents.

By the way, it is interesting to note that streets that are closer to the GWQ and the football grounds voted in favour of the CPZ, and those who are further away - against.

If your road is not in a CPZ but near a CPZ, you will suffer.

How it works for you will depend on where your road is situated within the CPZ.

I don't think that CPZs are usually individual streets. Mine is 7.

Matt - have you asked our neighbours whether they received a questionnaire?We were promised a follow up after the CPZ had been put in place.  Years later we discoverd by chance that it was happening but that all the houses at the end of the CPZ had not received the questionnaire.  These houses were most likely to be negative as they get ticketed because they can't find parking in their own road and CPZ.  Park just round the corner where there are no cars and you get ticketed because it is a different CPZ!Council eventually (after several phone calls and promises with nothing happening) sent out some more questionnaires.  Hearsay was that a pile of questionnaires were found dumped.  Whether this was true or not who knows.  Questionnaires were in fact a waste of time as the questions were framed to give the answers that the Council wanted and not to take account of any of the problems or actual views of the residents.Perhaps this is why so many feel disenfranchised.It is a great shame that party politics interferes with local politics.

We we for one didn't receive a questionnaire - so not all residents on Brook Road South received one. I most certainly would have responded too.

A very British thing, very few vote and very few respond or complain. Even fewer follow a complaint up.It's why we all get walked over so easily.When I worked in the USA. People are really pro active and make a point of using their opportunity to input.  They tend not to let party politics enter local issues so opinions are more rational than party led.

I'm surprised that there is so poor a response to the questionnaire.How many of the properties have car users?Did all properties receive questionnaires?

Bet it won't stop the 'road baggers' from putting cones and other debris in the road to bag a space. Perhaps when they are paying for it, they really will be able to convince themselves that it is, indeed, 'their' space.

Half vote for and half vote against and less than 50% respond.Hardly a mandate for anything.But utterly, utterly stupid to do this street by street.It solves nothing just creates an ever expanding problem to more and more streets.The source of the problem needs to be addressed, that of limited parking in new developments and unaffordable parking in the same developments.Yet again it's divide and rule and it needs to be all in or all out but not this stupid bit by bit process.
