The area by Brentford Train Station

Hello,I'm currently looking at buying a flat so therefore moving from Chiswick to Brentford! Can anyone offer any advice and local knowledge on the area near Brentford Train Station. Is it safe? I know it's about a 5 to 10 min walk to the High Street and there are a few little shops nearby but any other local knowledge is hugely useful. Thanks

Wonderful community spirit and good social mix (although I live in Isleworth there are many similarities, and if I moved and had a choice it would be to Brentford).

Chris, I've lived on Orchard Road since November 2012 and have really taken to Brentford. Very safe area from personal experience, everything I need is close by.

I think you'll find there may be more car break in/ burglary type crime in Chiswick than in Brentford judging from the sheer number of threads on the W4 forum over the last year or so. Of course there are many factors involved but it's better around here than many places and no worse than most. It's a nice place to live.

The older unspoiled bits of Brentford are both safe and pleasant. A hour or two walking around the district will give you a good idea of whats good and bad about the place, But the long established community are quite solid and when you get to know them quite nice too.

I've never seen any trouble around the station in Brentford. I'm a pleasant 10-15 min walk from the station, through the lovely Butts, and its always been a nice walk there and back. But sometimes, on the way home, I only make as far as the Weir pub.Don't judge Brentford by its "soon to be developed" (that is a permanent feature it appears) High Street. Its got great places - good curry house (Sami's), good Italian (La Rosetta), good pubs (this one will raise debate, but I like the Weir and the 6 Bells) and I've found very friendly people. And its easy to knock Morrisons, it ain't no Waitrose, but man, their fillet steak is top.Per square foot, for a flat, it must be 30-40% cheaper than Chiswick ... so in those terms good value. Especially as a quick jump on the 237/267 takes you straight to the High Road if you need to get back to W4.
