Noisy manhole cover on London Road near junction with Rowan Road

Every time a vehicle drives over it it makes a loud clattering noise.  If I was a resident on that part of London Road it would be driving me nuts.

Council websites sometimes seem too interested in collecting your details for secret data collection and retention somewhere rather than being interested in the information that you are trying to alert them to as a matter of public and community service.I found www.fixmystreet.com easy and quick to use.  If I can do I know that other people will be able to!  :)And I hate politics.

I can only say Jim that I use this stretch of road almost every day, and it has never been anything like as noisy as it was when I heard it last week.  At its present level this is very much a recent problem.

Isleworth was once famed for manhole cover manufacturing  Phil, as you probably know, and  there are still a  few of Winterbourne's iron lids around the area.Maybe, therefore, the  Isleworth community are the best people to deal with London Road matter... but why didn't you attend to it when you had all 3  Councillors in that Syon Ward?The noisy manhole cover was in full voice then too!

I can see why it would be a politician's preferred route then Jim.  Didn't occur to me but maybe next time, the important thing is though that the work gets done.

As Philippa suggested I think that the Fix my street website is.. maybe.. the best way forward.  They do credit you too.. and your involvement is archived for all to see... both before and after local elections!

I did John.  But I thought I'd mention it on here as well, in the probably forlorn hope that the publicity would shame the authorities into doing something about it more expeditiously.Community Action in action.

ICG  stands for/vision is  'Community Action' so says its website.Pity its 'campaigns manager' and or Leader didnt report this matter....We are -as ever, happy to do so.

That manhole cover has been irritatingly noisy for years and years Phil.I recall the burst water main incident  at that point and they obviously worked around It . I recall taking pictures there.Perhaps a prospective Syon Councillor could  adopt the headache as their first community challenge. Any takers?

When I went to Spain recently, we saw a couple of fellows (from the council I think) levering up man-hole covers and fitting thick rubber tabs underneath to stop the clattering noise. A civilised country.
