That poor Lionel Road South junction with the GWR

That lone road from Kew Bridge Station to the Great West Road is a useful short cut as one travels by car westwards.But easing over the Lionel Road railway bridge and down onto that mini roundabout...with the Mercedes Industrial Estate on the left..and traffic from the office block on the right...is enough to keep a driver challenged.But that's not all. One immediately arrives at traffic lights and TWO LANES of (usually solid and heavy) traffic lining up to join the M4 motorway above! A driver can struggle to cross those two lanes and join the squashed A4 Great West Road.(one lane only!)Ok build a Football Stadium down the road, but all those bulbous flats and dwellings too?  (Only required to financially aid the development)Have you ever tried to exit from the Big Yellow Storage site (where the old Sotheby warehouse was sited). It's almost impossible at times as fast moving traffic roars around the bend from the Chiswick Flyover Roundabout.Most of the 5000 "postcard" supporters of the Brentford Stadium plans will not have a clue about poor Lionel Road South pinch point...and the general congestion in the area.The plan as it stands must be rejected.

Psst!! Don't tell anybody (especially from Chiswick) but Ealing Road Windmill Road will have less traffic.

That road should only be used post match to get away from the stadium 5pm on a Saturday or 10pm Tuesday night can't see where the problem is.

Shame that picture failed on its journey here..but here's another one this time clearly showing the Lionel Road South junction with the Great West Road.The junction opposite Stilehall Gardens will also be a nightmare.

What alternative route to the A4?It can take 10 -15 mins from Kew Bridge to the A4 via the roundabout.The slip road via the Fountain is often busy with children and school groups and not an ideal route it also comes out onto a fast and blind section of the A4.Lionel Road is a one way route until the hump back bridge.With the huge over development coming and the congestion expected to run as far as Boston Manor Road/Half acre, how can that be good for anyone living here?Given the disasters that exist all around us here in Brentford, can one honestly have confidence in any planning recommendations.It seems as usual to be more about ticking boxes and meeting compliance with rules and regualations than it is to do with the human and social factor.Yet again Brentford is getting used as a cash raising dumping ground with not real benefit to is people or it's environs.

Anyone who says that the Kew Bridge/ Lionel Road/ A4 area is not busy on Saturday afternoons plainly has never been there on Saturday afternoons.The impact of a football stadium, a hotel and 910 new apartments on an already conjested area will mean that the important A4/M4 junctions with the North and South Circular Roads and Chiswick High Road will be even more gridlocked than as present.

I drive that road every day in rush hour. Even if the road is completely full, it takes 10-15 mins.  This objection has no merit.  Traffic can go to the Chiswick roundabout if necessary.

Jim, there other routes nearby you can use to get to the A4 rather use Lionel Road South that are just as good and less stressful than trying to get across the M4 joining section. However as one poster has said a yellow hatched box there would solve the issue for you at peak times. Much easier than stopping a development that provides much needed housing in LBH and a state of the art stadium for the football club.

Yes. And the main problem is joining the M4 not the A4 - the yellow box helps the latter.If Jim's right about gridlock, Big Yellow will get easier :-)

The recommendation is for 'approval' of the application I understand. As you know the application would and could only be turned down on planning grounds, so we have to assume that planning officers have looked at this very carefully and decided that a refusal wouldn't stand up.

but Jim Brentford games are on a Saturday afternoon, or some Tuesdays,hardly rush hour.The extra traffic has always been there.Why do Chiswick residents not want this built i wonder?
