Syon Estate!!

I had occasion to walk along Hawthorn Road on Tuesday,the pavements were in such a disgusting state that I had to walk in the Road it is a bloody disgrace!!If Dog lovers want to take their dogs for a walk then they must be encouraged to pick their doggie poo up. I suggest that LBH impose a fine of £1000 for residents who do not clear their dogs mess up.It appears that they do not like to foul their own gardens however pavements are a different matter.

There is a bag or a plastic bone with a hole in it that you can attach to the lead which holds plastic bags ready for when you go out and need them to clear up after your dog.  It seems that those sort of things would make good Christmas presents for some dog owners.

We lost our Cat of 15 years a month back,the kids bought us a Little Jack Russell,when we take it out for exercise we also take 2 small plastic bags plus a small scoop if it does a message it is immediately picked up and disposed of at home.Simple as that!! If we all followed those measures then our foot paths would be much cleaner and healthier.A very Merry Christmas and A Happy,Prosperous & Peaceful New Year to you all.:=)

Those banners that go up on lampposts would be a useful place to put information only people don't think that dog dirt is very nice and are afraid of upsetting people so don't do anything about it.  It isn't nice but maybe banners are a bit over the top.  Some people don't even know which borough they are living in.It can't be a bad idea to point this out to them!

Why? do you have to be so bloody crude!anti-social what the hell does that mean a Labourious invention that's all.We have the largest collection of CCTV Cameras in the World well over half a million on our small Island does it decrease our Crime Rate NO!!it does not,however that does not stop it spying on us 24/7.So when necessary it should be quite easy to catch people allowing their dogs to defecate on our footpaths,they should use their gardens for that purpose.

I can't imagine you challenging someone would make a jot of difference to their behaviour Vanessa. And we haven't become 'wussy' as you charmingly suggest,just looking for  tip as to how you would challenge someone.

Perhaps challenging some berk who has let his or her staffie drop one on the pavement and has left it there may not be so comfortable for some people to do Vanessa, especially if they are out with their grandkids, say. Or do you know a completely safe way to do it?

If you don't think that people who let their dogs cr*p everywhere and don't clear up are anti-social and downright ignorant then I don't know why you're complaining. It just needs a little bit of consideration for others and the willingness to take responsibility for your own dog. To impose a fine would require someone being on the spot with the power to enforce a fine, how else could it be done and by whom?

I certainly do not agree that people are ignorant or anti-social, however I do agree that some people are inconsiderate and lazy if they have Dogs then they should automatically clean their pets mess up.It really is easy and not costly at all!!! However a FINE is and would certainly be a deterrent. Disgraceful really that we have to resort to that but having to walk in the road to avoid dog poo on your shoe is very dangerous!!

I quite agree with you after all when Councils deem it necessary to inform us of their plans then a notice is placed probably where you would not look.A notice board of considerable size is a necessity and yes we should not be told what common courtesy and common sense tells us.Generalising! You wouldn't let your Dog poo in your Lounge then why allow that same pet to foul our Pavements & Footpaths.

If people took notice of the law the prisons would be empty - thing is people are ignorant, anti-social, inconsiderate and lazy. They shouldn't have pets if they are not prepared to look after them properly and that includes clearing up. It needs them to be challenged if others see them.

Are there signs?  I noticed recently on a visit to the Fountain Leisure Centre that the very useful noticeboard has gone.  This had notices such as the one to not put your rubbish out too early.People often claim ignorance.  Ignorance of the law is no excuse.  Surely it would be better to make it more obvious what is expected of people - as then they shouldn't feel so aggrieved when they are caught.

I don't understand how ppl can take their dogs out so that they can do their business outside of their home garden.If you want a lovely home then you should doubly want a nice environment to live in.

Surely Council signs indicating it is against the Council's Law for owners dogs to foul our footpaths and the consequent notification of a large fine would be a deterrent.

Is CCTV evidence sufficient to impose a penalty ?In the same way as Bus Tag is used to trace acts of violence on buses, could pics of doggy offenders be put online for others to identify and shop to the authorities ?

Depends on what the contract specifies, but it would still require an operative to be on the spot to witness an incident before anything could be enforced.

Hounslow Highways have fined one person for littering so far haven't they?  A £50 on-the-spot fine.
