I'm pleased to see that Ruth Cadbury is also urging people to sign the petition. From the Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/Ruth2015Win"MY RESPONSE TO THE DAVIES COMMISSIONYet again hundreds of thousands of residents of west London are faced with uncertainty as a third runway at Heathrow is back on the table. Having campaigned for twelve years with local residents I am deeply disappointed that Davies is considering further expansion at the airport, especially as this had been ruled out by the Conservatives when they came into Government in 2010. This latest report smacks of a U turn to appease Heathrow airport’s owners who won’t stop pushing until they get a fourth runway, and I can only assume has Cameron's tacit support. The proposed additional runway will blight yet more communities, particularly in the northern parts of Heston, Brentford and Chiswick. Those living under the existing flight paths will have their hopes of getting any reduction in noise impact destroyed. With flights overhead every minute for 70% of the time, residents across West London and beyond live in possibly the noisiest environment in Europe. And it’s not just noise. Studies show that the air quality and road traffic levels all add to the noise pollution and have a negative impact on children’s learning and the mental and physical health of many adults. The Davies Commission report could, however, have been worse: ‘Boris Island’ - the estuary airport idea - no longer has legs, the hub airport myth is exploded and Davies envisages only one extra runway in the south east.I do welcome the Commission’s promise to further investigate the impact of noise, but they need to look at more than just the failed Operational Freedoms trial. We need guaranteed flight alternation and a decently funded insulation programme on a par with schemes around other UK and world airports. While this uncertainty over Heathrow persists I will continue to do everything in my power to fight for an improved quality of life for residents in Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth and Hounslow, but I need your help. What you can do:1) If you are affected by the airport now or by the impact of the proposed third runway to the North West of the airport and you want to campaign with me for a decent solution for those living near Heathrow please email me at ruth@ruthcadbury.org.uk2) Sign the Petition: Say No to Heathrow Expansion Petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/no-third-runway"
