Brentford Pubs

Can anyone recommend a good, friendly 'proper'pub in Brentford. I have tried a few that were not too bad but am looking for a decent local with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

I MUST ADMIT ONLY ON BUSY MATCH DAYS THE GRIFFIN HAVE TO SERVE THE BEER IN "PLASTICS." THE UNFORTUNATE THING IS THAT AS THE PUB IS SO POPULAR ON MATCH DAYS EVEN REGULARS HAVE TO PUT UP WITK "PLASTICS !!!"

Last time I was over I went into the Griffin on a match day. Thought the London Prode was not in very good condition, far to warm, and they sold it in a plastic glass

YES, I TOTALLY AGREE. THE GRIFFIN IS A VERY WELL RUN PUB WITH VERY FREINDLY SERVICE.

The beer in the Griffin is great but I haven't been in there for a good while as it's much too smoky. There's some sort of aircon equipment but it doesn't seem to do much! As an aside, I'm very disappointed that none of the Brentford pubs we've tried has either decent aircon or a non-smoking area. As a result we only occasionally drink here in the winter.

Come down to The Griffin on the corner of Brook Rd Sth & Braemar Rd.Good beer & food & sometimes there is a little footie match across the road. Boxing Day should be worth a stroll around.

Thanks to all who have advised. I will certainly try out the pubs mentioned and appreciate the advice, hopefully during the Christmas season if I can escape the family. I agree with your sentiments regarding regarding old fashioned boozers. Cheers, Merry Christmas.

Hi Sarah,I’ve seen your name quite often so you are posting successfully.I think you question is in the phrase “… how do I “post back up” a thread….”  I’m guessing you might mean how do I make my post appear in the position I want - do these postings in the different positions solve the puzzle or have I misunderstood the question?Regards……………..Daveps  Sarah - ignore me!!!  I can see "it" - looking at the times etc. but I'm sure I've just made matters worse :-)Merry Christmas, I must have had a heavy night!!!!!!!!!!!

I always head for the Magpie & Crown when I come home. Good local b, great beers but a bit scruffy. Brewery Tap has great food and well keeped Fullers.

TheMagpie and Crown is a good, old style pub(bit scruffy)but good range of ale and conversation. The Coach and Horse also has good beer and is a great music and quiz pub. Has good food too. Cheers

The Magpie and Crown staff and customers have in my opinion always been friendly and have a great range of beers as well and the Watermans as mentioned is worth a visit.Its a shame that most pubs no longer have a Landlord or Landlady and the replacement short term managers are purely driven by sales targets to improve their salarys.Hence a pub with with a load of lager louts spending their wages or dole in a couple of nights and the trouble that follows is preferable to running an old fashioned boozer with just a steady income.
