Let's be perfectly clear. Heathrow is not asking you if you want a third runway,no, they are attempting to control, the argument by asking you which runway you would prefer. If you respond to this with anything other than a blanket NO to another runway, then they will be able to go before the government with a public response that appears to say that another runway is acceptable. Heathrow is operating from self interest, something we all do as individuals, but in this case, their self interest is damaging the lives of all who live under the flight path. Not long ago, the Economist published an article stating that there was no economic justification for expanding the airport, so, the questions are, who does expansion benefit and your first clues are, where do they live and what positions do they hold in the Heathrow organization?
