Simon, just because a council owns a property doesn't mean its been bought at tax payers expense. Councils once owned properties to rent to lower paid workers and yielded x amount per annum per properties and I sure Bob Crowe was, at one point, some lowly paid worker. At this point I stress the word worker here. I don't think anyone envisaged the work-shy or 'I've got health issue y'know' or whatever is the nice, polite phrase for this lot these days - you know, the type of people who've never done an honest days’ toil in their lives - the ones who think they should get something for nothing if they trot out the right excuse at the right time - the ones destined for the workhouse if workhouses were still in place these days - to get a council house as some sort of rite of passage. Bob Crowe was a worker (not shirker) but unfortunately all the bile and venom (and big belly, probably) got the better of him.
