LBH Free Energy Visits for vulnerable residents

LBH Free Energy Visits for people over 70, those with long term health condition and families with children under five.Hounslow council in conjunction with Groundwork has initiated this scheme obviously in attempt to increase there votes in the coming local elections in May (If not - why only at this late stage and almost the end of winter) Now they decide to tell us how to keep warm.Anyway free goodies handed out to these vulnerable people include Thermal socks, thermal gloves, Thermos mug, a snuggle blanket and a microwavable hot water bottle. REMEMBER these are for vulnerable people. The hot water bottles are now being withdrawn as if left in the microwave oven too long can be dangerous. Do they not test these products before handing out to vulnerable people ?

I am interested in the hot notwater bottle.  I was asked recently to buy a replacement one after one had caught fire in the microwave.  I see two big problems.  If they get caught because the microwave plate can't rotate then they overheat (so why aren't they a shape that easily fits in with the rounded shape of the rotating microwave plate).If you heat one up and then forget or don't get around to taking it out and using it immediately - and then decide to heat it up again it can overheat and catch fire.I also looked at a gel-filled one and the potential problems seemed worse.Consequently I have not replaced the original.Any more good solutions?

This should have been done in September /October.What a joke.Thank goodness we had a wet mild winter and not a hard cold one like 2011 and 2012.Dozy and inept or just plain cynical.
