Tony Benn RIP

Very sad day. He was a real gentleman .An icon of British politics and a champion of its people. Will be greatly missed and forever remembered.  Most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

He once said: "It’s the same each time with progress. First they ignore you, then they say you’re mad, then dangerous, then there’s a pause and then you can’t find anyone who disagrees with you".I always found this a great source of inspiration.RIP Tony Benn, there are sadly far too few of his kind in politics today.

He was indeed very wise and oozed integrity and charm. Thinking about Tony Benn just reinforces all the negative thoughts about today's sorry lot, all political parties included who come across as charmless, witless and at the mercy of advisers because they rarely have an original thought of their own. He had them in abundance.

Indeed..whatever side of the political divide you are on he was a highly principled man who did not bend to the political consensus to win votes or friends but said it as he saw it and he was mostly right imo. We won't see his like for many a year. RIP.
