Is Ruth Cadbury confused?

Just caught sight of Ruth Cadbury's Local Matters election leaflet entitled Local Matters: it's all about her standing for MP? Is she confused what election she is fighting in May?Or is this a deliberate attempt to confuse the electorate? Unfortunately there are many people who confuse local and national politics and will place their vote in the forthcoming local elections as a result of national issues rather than the local matters (that title is such a giveaway Ruth) that local elections should really be about.

Whenever the ICG publishes photos of large numbers of people gathered in a crowd they are invariably a cross-section of the community, albeit sometimes with a few ICG activists situated amongst them.When Labour does it they are almost always exclusively members of the party faithful.A pertinent reflection on two very different organisational mindsets, wouldn't you say?

Could not see anything that matters locally in 'Local Matters'Energy costs affect all of us nationally.No mention of housing for investors only or lack of infrastructure or half cocked planning matters. Overcrowded buses, bad roads, the lack of enforcement on conservation, school places, water problems and all those other boring problems that actually do affect local people. But at least they have bothered to communicate. Not a hoot from other parties. Bereft of ideas and policies.Not good for anyone really.

In a nutshell this is a crafty way of getting out Labour propaganda timed for the local elections but which doesn't have to be declared against election expenses for the local candidates as it doesn't mention them and doesn't refer specifically to the local campaign.

I think you have hit the nal on the head Jon as small parts of Isleworth were targeted by Ruths travelling circus last weekend and despite local councillors and candidates with her the sole focus was on Ruths campaign to get elected as an MP next yearYou would have thought that the local Labour candidates would be more concerned about getting their message across for this years May elections but they obviously have a plan to confuse potential voters
