Vanessa - they have changed the wording on the 'front page' and taken out the bit about Simon-Anthony 'fleeing from the Police'.The distortion of the sirens direction appears worse in recent times..?  I suddenly realised I had been thinking this for a while but don't know when it first happened.  Recently, at a main junction, I nearly pullled in front of a car with its sirens going because I hadn't seen the direction it was coming from and a very helpful passenger was saying ITS COMING FROM THERE .... the emphasis being on the THERE but not saying WHERE!  (you just don't get the quality of back seat driver these days, don't you find??).The other day my husband was waiting at the junction near to Twickenham Police station and a van pulled out from the station at high speed, which he had seen.  An elderly man beside him either didn't see where it was coming from - or in his panic just got confused and stepped out into the path of the van.  My husband grabbed the mans jacket and physically pulled him backwards and the Police driver waved in a sort of shock. There is another side of this to consider as well, what do the Police think we are hearing when they sound their siren?  If they don't realise the sound is (possibly) being distorted it could affect their judgement - and that could result in more accidents. These comments are made in isolation to the accident on the heading, because I know absolutley nothing about it.  I do know that Simon-Anthony was a very able young man and he had good balance and judgement.  He was physically very fit and strong and I personally had never seen anyone look more like a dolphin in the swimming pool.  I have always thought that if there had been a diving pool nearby, he would have been a top high board diver as he just cut through the water with a grace I had never seen before.  He was a keen climber too and you can't do that without good physical control. So something must have gone terribly wrong.
