The report seems to conclude that the environmental impact on those living near the M4 has increased since the Bus Lane was removed because traffic has increased since the 3rd lane was reinstated. However, there is no mention in the report of the fact that, whilst the Bus Lane was in operation, many motorists who were frustrated with the traffic jams from Junction 4, opted to exit at Junction 3 and use the A4 instead.I am not aware of any report on the environmental impact on those living near the A4 who no doubt would have suffered the consequences of this increased traffic. Since the Bus Lane removed, many motorists were pleased to revert to using the M4 into Chiswick again.I would assume there are many, many more people living next to the A4 than the M4 so if the Bus Lane is reinstated they will suffer the environmental impact and motorists will suffer. People using taxis from Heathrow will no doubt benefit from quicker ( hence cheaper) journeys but they are a distinct minority.
