Bikes to give...

I have two bikes (one BMX and the other a mountain bike- suited for probably children aged 13-15) that I want to give away. My children don't use them anymore, and I would love to give them to a charity or to children who wouldn't otherwise have bikes. Does anybody know of any where locally that might want to take them and give them to local children?

Hi - as Philippa says we [London Bike Hub] accept donations of bikes. generally these are worked on during our maintenance training classes we run on housing estates or a programme we run with people with learning issues. suitable bikes are restored and then either sold on to fund the project or donated at bike swaps. bikes we cannot repair are turned into all sorts of objects from tyre belts to sculptures. our training is a lot more than just fixing bikes but also work shop admin, health and safety and customer service.Bikes can be dropped off at our Greenford workshop but the easiest option is at our Brentford shop at 188 High Street, Wednesday's 7 till 9, or weekends.

Try David Eales.  He is very involved with cycling and bicycle maintenance workshops for the young (and probably older)!
