Gd Day Jim .Happy new year to you and all of the good people who contribute to this forum , to be honest If I lived in close proximity to LHR I would be a nervous wreck , we are a lot more fortunate in MEL all the runways head out over unpopulated areas , and the Aircraft tend to have gained sufficient height prior to overflying populated areas, and do not cause to many problems .I live 8kms from MEL A/P a kilometre or so to the west of the N/S runway , live above a National park(Brimbank Park) , which is the track in and out of the A/P for A/Craft using the N/S runway , and most of the departing intercontinental flights tend to depart around 5pm and arrive between 5am and 7am .Bristol Brabazon , Brain child of one lord Brabazon of Tara from memory , had some 8 engines I think but was still grossly underpowered and overweight flew once over London and was thereafter grounded, sort of English version of the Howard Hughes Spruce goose , hot in MEL today 31 degs C tommorrow 37 C about time our weather as been shocking .
