What a lovely name, Saffron. I'm from Devon and saffron buns used to feature in the bakery shops - I'm not too sure they do any more, at least not ones with real saffron. Have you ever had one? (Sorry, this post is sounding rather surreal but you are asking about baking, afterall.)Even more surreal, perhaps, I once had a half Indian flatmate called Keshar which, if I remember correctly, meant Saffron.
