Osterley news: Tony ("No sex please") Marriott has died.

Tony was the chap who famously co-wrote the West End comedy "No sex please, we're British"..which ran for 16 years.He was involved in many other matters ...locally too and scripted many other things.I was quite shocked to see his Obituary in Monday's Times newspaper... and wondered whether others who knew of him were aware. Of all places I used  to exchange greetings with him in the queues at Barclays Bank!RIP Tony..

I recently gathered that Tony used to live in Heston in the 1960s 1970s on the award winning Wheatlands Estate where he was Chairman of the Residents Association.Amongst his neighbours were Mike Hailwood the champion motorcylist, Hannah Gordon the actress and a bevy of well known musicians.Just thought I'd add that to the thread about a very charming local.

I believe Tony (RIP)lived in Wood Lane North. Vanessa's comments registered with me too. Another face and smile to be missed in that Osterley Park area.

I think Tony may have lived in that area, but he died in a retirement home for actors in Hillingdon at the age of 83.

What awful news, both me and my husband knew Tony and he was a delightful man. I remember well an after dinner speech he gave which had one of the most touching and unexpected punch-lines ever. A terrific sense of humour and a real twinkly person, it was a pleasure to be in his company.
