Bar and Pub Recommendations in Brentford

Having tried and greatly enjoyed a drink or two at the Fire Station a few times now, we were looking for other pubs/bars to try in the area and similarly for good restaurants. Taste is varied so all recommendations would be very welcome.

I would strongly recommend a pub by the name of The Waiting Rooms it has been recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The food is great i had a Sunday roast there last week and the chicken was fabulous. It is on the Twickenham Road Isleworth, approx. a two minute drive from Brentford High Street, you can not miss the pub it has the best floral display outside. Try it, let me know what you think of it. Good luck

I am not sure that the Fire Station qualifies in my book as it's not a pub - I popped in horrified to find no draught beer of any description.The recommendations on the other thread are all good - The Brewery Tap is a good local espescially if you want some live jazz and the quiz on a monday is good; Lord Nelson is just fine, The Griffin I do like but find it oppressively smoky some nights.

Thanks to you both! We are looking for a nice clean pub or bar, no loud music, good wines & draught beer/lager and if they do food that is good too. So far we have only been to the Firestation and liked that very much.

What makes a good pub? For starters I'd say :Decent well kept draught beer, mixed clientele of various ages, good friendly service, no loud music, cleanliness,  relatively clean atmosphere ie not smoky and a pub that is predominantly a pub and not trying to be a restaurant bar.

What factors make a "GOOD" pub? I suppose a good pub to one might not necessarily be a good one for somebody else. I'd like to know the most important things that make a pub a great place for you. ;-)

Captain Morgans is a very good pub which has excellent traditional Irish music evenings during the week.
