We know a bit about Air cadets having had 2 members in the household. They really enjoy the activities and socialising. My youngest son is doing a Btech (which I understand counts as 3 or 4 GCSE's) through the cadets. YS has just come back from a weekend away, training for a 100 mile march later in the year. He had no blisters and managed the 30 miles or so without having to hitch a ride on their support vehicle. They also have to concentrate at times as some of the terrain is very monotonous (and they all really understand tedium from that! .. not the "oh I'm bored" because they can't decide what to do, at home!). The group develops techniques to work together and get the whole team through these patches and where anyone is having physical difficulties such as muscle fatigue. They really enjoy the experience away and although he is suffering today ... is looking forward to next months training session. One of the 'front pages' mentions Police cadets - are there any other cadets groups, and do you know anything about them?
