It depends on what is racist.Racism is a modern perception and definition. If you travel the world you see things that are considered wholly offensive by our current perceptions.I've seen real, nasty, vindictive hate filled racism in many countries between people's who are really the same culturally and ethnically. But it is considered acceptable. What passes for racism here is often so contrived and tedious that it deflects from the true discrimination that does exist. To deliberately insult someone because of their colour or ethnicity is not acceptable, but then again to insult anyone. period is surely not acceptable either. Insults are usually triggered by dislike and it can be anything from a hook nose, colour of hair, taste to colour, culture or disabilityBut who has not ever, in their life expressed reservations or dislikes about other cultures or people? Peoples tastes and preferences? Who has not been singled out for one reason or another? At our school, in this borough in the 70s any boys not good at football had to trade their team shorts for a girls netball skirt. They were also made to play shirtless.Nothing was said and the skins or shirts thing went on at every school. One or two of those PE teachers became headmasters. I don't think any of them are at FIFA or EuAFA, But the generation involved will certainly still think that's the way character building should be.Right or wrong, only time will tell. But all the same I do think one should be able to have free thought, free expression even if it is not popular with others or indeed right.
