I am one of the Conservative Candidates for Syon
I said to myself I would not get involved in the debates on this forum because many of them start well but then individuals can’t help themselves. it’s those same individuals who deny that they are politicians on one hand, whilst running a spectacular negative campaign to discredit their political opponents on the other. Anyway as you can tell I have been an interested spectator here; but I am not especially interested in political point scoring or denial of politics. Instead I am using this piece to introduce myself to those whom I may not have had the pleasure to meet on the door step as yet. I am 32 year old man and a resident of Brentford for the past 12 years. I was raised in several foster homes throughout my early teens under the watchful eye Hounslow Borough Council and the good people of Hounslow Social Services. Indeed it was my sixth foster home in 1997 that finally turned out to be my last and I am well aware that I was extremely lucky because many young people that I knew growing up with during that turbulent period of our lives have gone the other way as adults. I am still in touch with a few of them but I am also proud to say that a lucky few have gone to be successful in their own right. The unfortunate ones have to my knowledge, disappeared and a handful are serving or have served time in prison.I was fortunate to come through to the other side largely due to the kindness of my foster parents, but also because of the safety net that was provided by Hounslow Social Services. I am standing as a Conservative because I believe we all have aspirations and that a safety net of a community is vital to all of us. The local Government therefore needs to offer a service that supports us all but only doing so in a smart, professional and a cost effective way. I believe Hounslow Borough has done great things to support our vulnerable resident in years gone by and I am happy to say that I am a case in point; but somewhere in the last few years it has lost its way. That safety net is now shadow of its former self. I am standing because I believe that the Conservative Party are the only local group with a serious plan to deliver better services at a good value cost to our community of residents. Our local Conservative Party was one of the first administrations to freeze council tax long before it was fashionable. We simplified things so that services were easily accessible and brought in some of the best officers available to deliver on our promises. We all have read about the recent economic figures that were achieved nationally under the steadfast leadership of David Cameron. So it follows that Conservative Party are about delivering on our promises both nationally and locally.I am proud to say that the Conservative ARE a political group made of people like me and you who live in community. I for one I am a games teacher and rugby coach. My colleagues David Gerrey, Ranjit Gill and I are not professional politicians, but We know that we have enough experience to deliver a professional service to our residents. At these times where we need more than ever a smarter Local Government that delivers services to its residents in a cost effective way - it is so important that we look beyond political posturing and name calling and look instead at who is best positioned to deliver on your vision for Syon. There serious issues about schools, public service, our high street, cleanliness, housing, parking and pollution. We don't need petty negative campaigning to win the augment. If the recent National economic figures are anything to go by, the Conservative Party is delivering on its promises nationally and they say - the apple doesn't fall far from the Conservative Party tree! Please vote on Thursday. Ron Mushiso
