Galata Pera Restaurant Brentford

Word is slowly getting around about this place, went again last night and it was fairly busy with several tables reserved.Good food, good atmosphere and reasonable prices - I really hope it survives.

"There's 2 hours free in Morrisons, free parking in ALbany road, 30 minutes free on the High Street, or if you feel like paying there's the little car park opposite the magistrate's court (as was) Albany Parade, underneath Ferry Quays or in the Watermans."Precisely my point - what can I do for 30 minutes free on the High Street or if I try to get a park in the pay & display opposite the Thames Restaurant. If you want a nice relaxing lunch or whatever you constantly have to be checking your watck. Parking in Brentford is a disaster, hence the run down High Street. People don't want the hassle hence the shops close due to lack of business.  Its a shame really. On the other hand there is always plenty of parking in 'ounslow' at the Treaty Centre but very few no decent resaurants. My wife tried to buy a little table at the very nice antique shop on Brentford High Street a couple of weeks ago but gave up due to lack of parking and an abundance of traffic wardens. She didn't want to take the chance of a huge parking fine and there were no free spaces (even for the 30 minutes)

Buses 65, 237, 267, and 235 all pass very near this restaurant, saving on parking fees. Even the E2, E8 and 195 aren't far away.

Perhaps they should just knock down the High Street and let people park there. The present High Street is pretty uninteresting and serves no real purpose.

Parking in Brentford is always a disaster which is why the High Street suffers so much as people couln't be bothered and you need to be a rocket scientist to understand all the permuations of the signs of when you can and when you can't park or risk the ridiculous fines. The answer is to park at Syon House and walk!!

I have just rung the restaurant to tell them about the questions concerning parking and they were asking how they advertise on here ... so hopefully somebody will come on and give you some answers ... and maybe some advertising too.  :-)!

The underground carpark has a sign offering free parking for Galata Pera customers. Not sure how it works, but there you go.

I have done the local parking research:Ferry Quays (underground) £1.40 per hour.Albany Parade (shoppers carpark) £1.00 per hour.Hopefully not too prohibitive to those wishing to visit Galata Pera.  Perhaps car-sharing can further reduce the cost if required.

LBH have no intention of knocking down the Watermans other than perhaps to relocate it into the new town centre (in about 2079 if current rates of progress are maintained)You could always park in Morrisons car park (I think you're safe for 2 hours) or Albany Road (safe all day)Then walk down Pump Alley or Town Meadow - it's between the two at the river/marina end

Thanks Matthew, however, the expensive underground car park rather rules this restaurant out - my friends and I treat ourselves to a "ladies wot lunch" outing about twice a month.  The parking expense and aggravation of worrying about meters running out is a hassle too far!  We rarely venture out in the evenings except sometimes an early supper after seeing a 4/4.30pm film at Watermans and won't be able to enjoy that once LBH/developers put the boot in and knock it down!

Where exactly is this restaurant - which turning to take off the High Street - is parking easy there, also address and tel number although sounds as though no need to book at this stage - not sure we'd want to eat in solitary splendor though.

I live on Ferry quays and after reading posts on this forum thought I should give it a try.  Went last evening - about 10 people there.  Very comfortable and clean restaurant and the food was superb.  Lovely quiet environment and very nice owner and servers.  Bill was £52 for 2 including a bottle of wine, which I thought was excellent.  I hope it survives and they really should do some local marketing as it is much nicer than I was expecting.

The food and location look lovely. The prices might be a problem with roughly £11 for main and £4.50 for a starter. If they want repeat and regular customers who keep coming often they might have to look at 8+3 model but then that's just my view

I've eaten the set lunch all inclusive 2 course menu and had char-grilled steak. Better than expensive Gauchos on Richmond Riverside. Would definitely recommend it but it's really too small to accommodate family dining I would suggest. Local ladies who lunch would love it.

I like Turkish food - might try Galata Pera sometime soon. I get my kick of Turkish food from Ealing Mangal(opp Daniel's on Uxbridge Road Ealing) - they have Duluca and Cankaya wine too.

I am looking to give it a go tomorrow before the footy. A while back, I went to the site's previous incarnation - a Turkish restaurant called Marmaris (I understand that Galata Pera is under different management) on my lunch break. I thought Marmaris was excellent but I knew it would not exist for long! Still, I enjoyed several sunny lunch breaks in the comfort of my own solitude.

Have now been twice, both times in the evening and both times there have been familiys in the restaurant but generally quite empty, the food is excellent, service is excellent and would recommend this restaurant.I was told that as they have only been open a month they needed a slow start but will advertise during the coming months.

I dropped in on Galata Pera today with a viewing of taking lunch there with the family this weekend. Unfortunately I was advised that the restaurant is only family friendly during the weekdays. It's a pity as the menu and decor looked very good.

Went there last Saturday. Food very good, service excellent. They have spent a lot of money on the decor but the restaurant was empty. I asked why they had not leafleted the area. They said they did not want to annoy people with junk mail. Very noble but they won't survive unless they do some promotion.Very nice, friendly owners. I wish them luck.

I live on the estate and walk past it from time to time, but have yet to see a single diner there.The 3 reviews on Trip Adviser are all very positive. Not food that I fancy I'm afraid, but I wish it well.
