Everyman Cinema Club to move into Lyric Square development

Hammersmith is to have a new cinema. Hampstead based boutique cinema operator, the Everyman Cinema Club, has acquired a site in the planned Hammersmith Grove development in Lyric Square as part of its plans to open 50 new theatres over the next five years.

The chain aims to provide an experience as different as possible from that of visiting a multiplex.

Everyman Cinema Club account director Bernice Dixon-Lines told Caterer Magazine, “We’re looking at sites in affluent areas without multiplexes and are currently focusing on London and the South-east. We’re hoping to expand across the UK in the latter stages of the development.”

The first Everyman Cinema Club venue is located in Hampstead Village in north London. They have already agreed a 30-year lease in Hammersmith Grove. The venue will be over 20,000sq ft and will include a 3,000sq ft brasserie with al fresco dining area as well as four screening lounges and function rooms. Everyman say the venue will mirror Hampstead’s innovative mix of live entertainment, local acoustic artists, ‘Scream’ crèche facilities, full waiter service and a premium food offer

The cinema will be sited in Development Securities’ proposed office scheme of Hammersmith Grove, a 340,000 sq ft development on a car park next to Hammersmith Tube station.

The future of the Cineworld cinema on King Street remains uncertain even though plans for it to be replaced by a Tesco superstore have been ditched. There are also plans for a major multiplex cinema in the Westfield shopping centre in White City.
