Recruitment for over 55s 'Olympics' has started!
Leisure centre operator GLL is calling on anyone aged over 55 years old and living in Hammersmith and Fulham to take part in London’s very own ‘Olympics’ for older people – the Club Wellness Games - at Newham Leisure Centre.
The Games will take place on October 19 and will celebrate the Day of Older Persons which fell on October 1.
It has been designed to highlight the benefits that sporting activities can have for older people, in terms of health and general well being.
Over 55s from across Hammersmith and Fulham are invited to represent their region and pit their skills against 14 rival London boroughs in a range of activities from bowls, badminton and swimming to bridge and dominoes.
Carolyn Myring, organiser of the Club Wellness Games said; “With teams from across the Capital taking part and representing their home boroughs, the day is sure to be competitive.
"But we will make sure it’s lots of fun too. Anyone can take part regardless of skill level, all that’s needed is to be over the age of 55 years old and have bags of enthusiasm!
“Our Wellness Games winners will have their very own presentation ceremony and there will be plenty of prizes for the best on the day.”
The Club Wellness Games will include the following events: Bowls, Badminton, Table Tennis, Short Tennis, Bridge, Dominoes and Swimming.
