Brentford's Waterside Scheme Picks Up Another Industry Award

Brentford Lock West wins a prestigious RIBA London Award 2017

Waterside Places has won a highly acclaimed RIBA London Award for its waterside development, Brentford Lock West. This is the third RIBA Award for the development and follows a RIBA National and a RIBA London Award in 2015, for the first collection of homes delivered here as part of this large-scale regeneration scheme.

This latest RIBA Award, was for The Arbor – by Architects Mikhail Riches with Cathy Hawley. The Arbor was the last collection of homes to delivered as part of phase one at Brentford Lock West and comprises 27 one, two and three bedroom apartments, duplexes and townhouses, situated along a neighbourhood street. The scheme and its design was described by the judges as being ‘functional, but also thoughtful, and indeed, charming' and it was recognised for providing accommodation, which was ‘spacious' and ‘well planned throughout' with ‘good natural light and views'.

John Robinson, Development Director for Brentford Lock West said: “We are delighted that yet again, Brentford Lock West has been recognised for its impressive design and architectural style.  To have secured three RIBA Awards for this development is testament to the level of detail behind the project and the emphasis we have put on achieving good design – which is not only aesthetically pleasing but puts the homeowner at its heart.  We would like to congratulate the architects on securing such a prestigious award. With phase two now underway, we are hopeful that this success can be continued.”

Annalie Riches, Director of Mikhail Riches said: "At The Arbor and with the wider Brentford Lock West masterplan, Waterside Places has delivered an interesting and attractive new residential quarter with a strong sense of place out of a site that had lain derelict for 40 years. Our approach was to create great housing and a place with genuine, discernible character, with play spaces for children and a design for green spaces that enhances the biodiversity and wildlife of the area and canal.”

Phase one at Brentford Lock West has sold out. However, phase two at Brentford has recently launched, with homes available to reserve off-plan. Chalico Walk makes up the first of the homes to be released as part of phase two at Brentford Lock West. A waterfront building of 42 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, Chalico Walk overlooks Brentford's Grand Union Canal, where Waterside Places has carried out extensive improvements.

Brentford Lock West forms part of a long-term regeneration project to breathe new life into Brentford through the anticipated delivery of approximately 500 new homes. Close to local shops, leisure facilities, beautiful parks and waterside walkways, the scheme has been carefully designed to maximise the water frontage whilst offering stylish homes, community spaces and commercial buildings in a new desirable west London destination.

Prices at Chalico Walk start from £412,500. A number of the homes enjoy water views.
