Brentford School For Girls Open Evening 25th Sept

Opportunity for prospective parents to visit all areas

Brentford School for Girls’ Open Evening takes place on Wednesday 25th September. The school will be open from 5pm-8pm and prospective parents will have the opportunity to visit all areas of the school and see us showcasing how we work to ensure the Brentford girl of the future achieves her potential.

This summer, Brentford achieved another set of fantastic examination results- 72% of Year 11 students achieved 5A*- C grade GCSEs including English and Mathematics, with 90% of students achieving five A*-C grade GCSEs overall. These results make Brentford the second-best performing non-denominational school in Hounslow and the results are amongst the best in comparison with other non-selective west London girls’ schools.

Since 2010, Brentford School for Girls has experienced a sustained period of success under the leadership of the headteacher, Ms Marais Leenders. The most recent Ofsted inspection, in September 2011, acknowledged the school’s increasing success, calling it a ‘good school with several outstanding features’. The school’s ‘outstanding care, guidance and support’ and ‘outstanding personal development’ were praised as were the ‘outstanding’ classroom behaviour and ‘positive learning environment’.

Brentford School for Girls offers small class sizes and outstanding teachers who work hard to ensure that all students fulfil their academic potential. Students make good progress as they move through the school- amongst the top 6% nationwide.

Brentford School for Girls has a proven track record in supporting students with university applications and destinations include Oxbridge and other Russell Group institutions. Additionally, young students who show promise will be entered early for their exams. This year, two Year 8 students achieved an A* and A in their GCSE Mathematics examination and will this year begin an AS Level Mathematics course in Year 9.

Brentford School for Girls is fully committed to the ethos of girls’ education, recognising that single-sex education is of great benefit to girls. This view is echoed by the National Foundation for Educational Research , “Girls in single-sex comprehensives perform better than girls in mixed comprehensives, regardless of socio-economic background and ability levels. ” The school pursues a clear learning vision designed to develop the Brentford Girl of the future, both academically and socially. The pastoral system nurtures girls and the house system fosters team spirit and healthy competition.

A packed programme of extra-curricular activities at Brentford School for Girls serves to develop a fully-rounded student body. This programme includes sporting clubs and subject clubs as well as, amongst many others, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, gardening, debating societies and groups in support of charitable endeavours.

Brentford School for Girls holds the British Council’s International Schools’ Award and has international links with schools in Africa, India, Sweden and France and staff and students have participated in visits to these countries.

The Open Evening represents a fantastic opportunity for parents to see what is on offer and to choose Brentford School for Girls for their daughter to join next year. Parents are also strongly encouraged to make a day visit, to see the school in action, and these are always available by appointment.
