How does newsletter advertising work?
When a newsletter is issued, its advertising content will less than 15% of the total content. The ads comprise text of about 20 words including a link to your web page.
The recipients of the newsletter can then click directly through to your information.
Generally the ads are placed in the middle of the newsletter. For customers on higher weightings the ads can be positioned more prominently.
The ad to non-ad ratio in the newsletter is limited to 15%. Fewer ads mean better responses.
I don't have a web site - how can I advertise on line?
We have a comprehensive Services Directory. If you take banner adverts with us, we include an enhanced listing as part of the package. If you don't have a website for your banner to click through to, you can click through to this enhanced listing instead.
On all the pages on our site you will see adverts displaying at the top of the page. These rotate randomly and the number of times they are shown depends on the weighting the client has paid for. Ever time a user sees an ad it counts as one view.
The page is structured so that the visitor to the site will always see the banner. If they see an ad that interests them they can always click for more information. Clicking brings them through to your web page.
In practise we always give clients in excess of the guaranteed number as we always keep advertising inventory just in case there is an unexpected drop in site visitors.
How do I advertise on the front page?
Front page
banner advertising is only available to customers who take our higher weight packages.
We also offer customers the chance to buy a one week Calendar or Leisure inclusion. These ads are located in the two right hand columns on the front page.
What reports do I get on responses?
We can tell you exactly how many times your ad was seen, how many times potential customers visited your page and which avenue of promotion is working best for you. We constantly monitor responses to customers' campaigns to ensure that they are effective and will advise if an ad is not working as it should or if an older campaign is seeing reduced responses. Remember with our ad packages you can change an ad as many times as you want.
On request we can e-mail you a full report on the performance of your ad.
What does it cost to change my ads?
We will redesign your ads for you as often as you like if you have taken one of our higher weighted packages. If you have a sale or a special offer a new ad can be designed for you. Often we can turn round a new design with a day.
For other customers ads can be designed at a cost of £35 plus VAT.
I'm looking for cheaper advertising
We strive to offer the best deals around. We hope one of our packages will suit your budget: please do contact us regarding your business.
A listing in our Services Directory section is free for local businesses.
Why is advertising on new sites free?
In the early stages of development our sites may not have much traffic. It can take a while for a community of users to develop to make a vibrant local site. If advertising in the early period of a site's development is not likely to bring you many customers, we don't charge. During this start up period, if you are a local business then you can advertise on a new site for free. If you are not then you must be a paying customer of one of our other sites.
When a new sites starts to get traffic we will come back to you and ask if you would like to continue to advertise.
How do you invoice and what payment methods do you accept?
We e-mail out invoices in an Adobe Acrobat format which can be read with free software if this is not already loaded on you PC.
Payment can be by cheque, credit card, direct transfer or monthly standing order.
You can pay for your package in monthly instalments but only by standing order.
Payment is in advance. If a campaign has started but payment is now received, you will not qualify for the bonus advertising that we give to our clients during the month and you will not be included in the newsletter.
We can quote for a bespoke promotional package which will be specifically targeted for your event.
If you are a local non-profit group then event promotion is free unless you are paying another local news media for promotion. In this case we can still offer deeply discounted rates.
We are always happy to receive contributed articles from local people.
If you are a paying client we will happily prominently include advertorial content on the site and in the newsletter. Text and related images need to be supplied by you and we retain the right to edit the content if necessary. The frequency of advertorial will be dependent on space constrictions and the weight of advertising package you have taken.
