Snug at Watermans

An immersive multi-sensory experience for children 0-4 (Ad)

SNUG OFFERS CHILDREN 0 – 4 YEARS AN IMMERSIVE MULTI-SENSORY EXPERIENCE AT WATERMANS THIS HALF-TERM.

A magical winter story world for young imaginations and very brave hedgehogs.

In time for half-term at the end of October between 25 and 28 October, Snug is an installation by Lewes-based Slot Machine Theatre. The company has created an immersive, multi-sensory experience for 0’s-4’s and their families, with live performance and an accompanying book.

Snug is a fully immersive show. Audiences enter a space where real trees, undulating hills, far reaching vistas, and a beautiful soundtrack instantly transport you to a magical forest, surrounded by the inviting textures and smells of a natural woodland. Four times a day there is a 15-minute performance which tells the story of a hedgehog.

It’s winter and Hog is really cold. They need somewhere cosy to snuggle up - but where?

Watermans and Slot Machine Theatre invite children and their families to come and explore a wonderful winter forest within our building, and help our hedgehog hero and their friends find somewhere warm to sleep.

In the specially designed SNUG space there are comfy corners to cosy up in, textures and sounds to explore, an original picture book to enjoy, and a delightful live storytelling performance.

Suitable for ages 0-4, older siblings welcome. SNUG has been made with sustainability at its heart. The event also includes SNUG related accompanying crafts for little ones.

Emma Dolan, producer with Slot Machine Theatre commented:

“Snug is perfect for tiny children who don’t really have speech and language yet and for children who don’t have English as a first language”

Head of Children and Families programming, Hakan Silahsizoglu added:

“Watermans aims to introduce children to the very best theatre, dance and performance and our mission is to create a life-long passion for arts and culture. Many of the companies Watermans works with happen to be from outside the UK and are leading the way in terms of they way they use performance and storytelling to entertain and inspire, enriching our culture.”
