The Spider is Landing

Celebration for Ten Years of Friends of Boston Manor Park

A strange object which looks like a giant spider is being built within Boston Manor Park funded by The Friends of Boston Manor to coincide with their ten years of making a difference in Boston Manor Park.

Work is also in progress to install some outdoor gym equipment which is being funded by The London Marathon Trust.

An added attraction will be an outdoor tennis table – all free to use.

The Friends have been assured by contractors that all will be finished by 12 o’clock Saturday 25 May when the new area will be officially opened.

The idea behind the project is to provide fitness activities for adults down to 8 year olds allowing them to improve their health in a pleasant environment. It is believed that the spider, an interactive climbing frame run by a solar panel but activated by the users, is only the third to be installed in London.

Linda Massey from the Friends of Boston Manor says “we hear so often from visitors to the park that they cannot get their teenagers away from their computers – the spider is something to tempt them into the fresh air, use their computer skills and get fit at the same time…and to think adults can use it too.
