Council CPO To Progress Brentford Regeneration

Hounslow Council has decided to use compulsory purchase powers to acquire certain land south of the High Street in Brentford in order to drive forward major regeneration of the area.

At the Borough Council meeting recently, councillors voted to use the approach to enable new retail, leisure, commercial and housing developments that will transform the High Street and waterside areas of Brentford.

Up to 876 new homes and over 950 new jobs will be created as a result of the development according to the Council.

Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “A massive amount of work has been done to progress a high quality development that will breathe new life into Brentford.

“Most of the land has already been acquired and by using compulsory purchase we are ensuring that the scheme can progress smoothly for the benefit of everyone who lives in and visits Brentford.”

Progress on the High Street and waterside regeneration follows hard on the heels of a step forward for the new Brentford Community Stadium development. The Council took possession of land for the stadium and new housing earlier in September.
