Brentford Women return to the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 22 February for what promises to be one of the biggest games of their season, as they take on fellow title contenders Saltdean United in a 2pm kick-off.
With both sides battling at the top of the LSE Premier Division, the fixture is shaping up as a potential turning point in the promotion race, with league leaders Brentford looking to extend their advantage against one of the few teams capable of matching their form.
The Bees arrive in outstanding shape after a breakthrough campaign that has seen them dominate both domestically and in cup competitions. Brentford have produced an almost flawless run of league results this season, chalking up a record 21 wins while scoring heavily and keeping goals conceded to a minimum. That consistency has already delivered success beyond the league, with the club securing the Capital Cup for a second consecutive year and enjoying its best-ever run in the Adobe FA Cup, reaching the third round for the first time and recording an extraordinary 18–1 victory along the way.
Under head coach Carly Williams, who took over following promotion being secured, the squad has continued to blend attacking flair with impressive organisation, making Brentford one of the most complete and entertaining sides in the division.
Saltdean arrive as genuine challengers near the summit and have kept pace with Brentford throughout much of the season, setting up what should be a closely fought contest. However, the league table and recent form give the Bees a slight edge, particularly with home advantage at the Gtech Community Stadium. A narrow home win would reflect Brentford’s consistency, though a draw would keep the title race finely balanced heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
Off the pitch, the club is turning the afternoon into a celebration of women’s football, with a special matchday Fan Zone opening from 12.30pm in The Dugout. Supporters can expect creative workshops, limited-edition artwork designed especially for the fixture, live music from a DJ, face painting, interactive activities and a pop-up studio offering take-home portraits to mark the occasion. The first fans to arrive will also receive commemorative t-shirts.
Tickets for the match are free for under-18s and £5 for adults, with £2 from every ticket going towards girls’ football programmes, underlining Brentford’s commitment to growing the women’s game in the community.
With the league’s top two sides going head-to-head, a buzzing stadium atmosphere and a full programme of pre-match activities, Sunday’s fixture looks set to be one of the standout moments of Brentford Women’s remarkable season so far.
