Chiswick's Countess Swaps Hot Flushes For The Himalayas

Rula Lenska Heads for India With Borough's Top Cop For Charity

Local actress Rula Lenska is ensuring she remains on the right side of the law as she joins Hounslow Police Superintendent Clive Chalk on a trek through the Himalayas to raise money for the Children’s Society.

The odd pairing will be setting off next week as part of a team hoping to raise thousands for the charity.

Born Countess Roza-Marie Leopoldnya Lubienska, the 58 year old star of the hit musical Hot Flush, is no stranger to the law after managing to persuade magistrates not to ban her from driving when she was caught driving at 41mph in a 30mph zone.

She admitted the offence but said that the long travel involved in her work made it essential that she be able to continue to drive stating that she could not afford a chauffeur and had an elderly aunt who depended on her to do shopping.

Ms Lenska is said to be looking forward to spending time with the group, the majority of whom she is yet to meet. After her spell on C4’s Celebrity Big Brother and the furore over her feline tomfoolery with MP George Galloway, she certainly promises to be an entertaining companion.

Their journey will take them to the Himalayas in the north-eastern province of Himachal Pradesh, through the Kingdom of Gaddi with magnificent views of the Dhaula Dhar mountain range to the Dalai Lama's home and monastery.

Describing herself as “a crazy Polish countess who likes a challenge” no doubt Ms Lenska, who is a practicing Buddhist, will be making the most of this charitable one.

More information about the charity and the trek can be found at www.childrenssociety.org.uk
