Carers thanked at annual Awards Ceremony
The achievements of some of Ealing's most generous and selfless people were recognised at the Ealing Foster Carers celebration dinner on Saturday 5th December.
The 9th annual Carers' Awards Ceremony brought together more than 200 foster carers, family link carers, local dignitaries and council staff for a three course Asian banquet with tabla and sitar musical accompaniments.
All carers received a certificate acknowledging their contributions to fostering in 2004, and long-serving carers were thanked with a piece of engraved crystal.
The Adassa award for a special contribution to fostering was won by Georgina Hagen, pictured above with Cllr Sonika Nirwal and Mayor of Ealing Ian Potts. Georgina was praised for providing a nurturing and stable home to children of all ages whilst maintaining a calm manner and good sense of humour.
Councillor Sonika Nirwal who hosted the event said:
"It was a fantastic night which celebrated the human qualities of care and respect for other people. Every foster carer and family link carer shows a generosity of spirit that many of us could learn from, looking beyond their own needs to help others.
"Some of the carers I spoke to have been fostering for years, and have helped hundreds of children in their moment of need. It was so good to be able to thank all of Ealing's foster carers for their enormous contribution to our borough."
Mayor of Ealing Ian Potts, Leader of the Opposition Councillor Jason Stacey, and Director of Social Services Judith Finlay were amongst those who joined Councillor Nirwal to express appreciation for the real difference carers make to the lives of Ealing's children and young people.
