The management of Gunnersbury Park have announced that they are to close their public car park from this Thursday until further notice.

They say, “ We have taken this decision to support the Government's efforts to stop unnecessary travel. The park will remain open for our local community to exercise. #StaySafe.”

The government has expressed increasing concern about the number of people not following advice and using parks to have picnics and sunbathe rather than for walking and other exercise.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said that further restrictions would be necessary if people continued to ignore the guidance.

Some residents have already expressed concern that the move could lead to visitors to the park using local streets.

Gunnersbury Estate (2026) CIC is a not for profit organisation that manages Gunnersbury Park and Museum on a long lease from Ealing and Hounslow Councils.
