Local MP gets job with new Minister for Culture, Media, and Women
Local MP Mary Macleod has been promoted to Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport; and Minister for Women and Equalities, Rt Hon. Maria Miller MP.
Mary commented: “I am delighted to accept this new role, especially after the enormous success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Department has worked hard to deliver the best Olympic and Paralympic Games we have ever seen and I look forward to working with Maria Miller and her departmental colleagues in delivering a fitting legacy to these momentous events.”
Newly appointed Secretary of State, Maria Miller MP, also takes on the role of Minister for Women and Equalities.
Mary added: “As the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Women in Parliament and as a long term campaigner for increasing the numbers of women in both business and Government, I will look to bring the experience I have on these issues to the Department and work with them to make sure that women play a vital role in shaping our futures.”
