Ealing Hospital Matron's Charter begins to pay off

Cleanliness and food quality rated 'good'

Ealing Hospital has been given a ‘good’ rating in the national returns following a nationwide inspection of cleanliness and food quality. The highest rating, 'excellent' was achieved by 10% of hospitals nationally in 2005, and the next rating, 'good' achieved by 45%.

The hospital Trust has been commended for continuing improvements and initiatives in improving the overall environment of wards and departments. The returns follow visits by independent Patient Environment Action Teams (PEATS).

Trust Chief Executive, Fiona Wise, said: “We are delighted with the continuing good scores we are receiving from the PEAT inspections.

“We are making massive efforts to improve the cleanliness of the hospital and maintain the quality of our food.

“A Matrons’ Charter was launched earlier in the year setting down stringent standards which have to be followed by all staff in improving cleanliness around the hospital. We are also investing large sums of money in giving our wards a full face lift treatment. Two wards have been completely refurbished so far and we plan to do the same with two more in the next year.”
