Alfa Laval plans go on public display

Amended scheme for derelict site to be exhibited

Redevelopment plans for the derelict Alfa Laval site along the Great West Road, in Brentford, will go on display at a public exhibition next week. The initial scheme, first announced in May 2005, has been amended following consultation with Hounslow Council and the local community.

The revised proposals will provide a mix of uses including new homes, employment space and community facilities. The amended plans incorporate a reduction in the overall density of the original scheme by 25% and a lowering of the building height along Brook Lane North and Ealing Road, to respond to feedback from local councillors.

A public exhibition of the new plans will be held on site in the basement car park of the Alfa Laval building (entrance off Brook Lane North, opposite York Road) on:

* Thursday 18th January, 2pm - 8pm
* Saturday 20th January, 10am - 2pm

Residents are invited to view the proposals, meet with members of the project team and register their feedback before an application is submitted to Hounslow Council.

A spokesperson for Carlton Properties, said, "The Alfa Laval site has been derelict over ten years and is in desperate need of regeneration. We have worked closely with councillors and community groups over the past two years to work up a scheme local people would like to see developed on the site. We are very keen to hear residents' views on the new plans and hope people take the opportunity to visit the exhibition. We will be considering all feedback before submitting a planning application in the spring."

The 1.8 hectare site has been derelict for over ten years and is currently not in use. Plans for a new 13 storey company headquarter building were approved by Hounslow Council in 1999, but despite active marketing by the previous owners, there was no take up from potential occupiers.
