New figures show street cleanliness is improving
Newly published Government figures show that Hounslow streets are getting cleaner.
NI195 is one of the 198 national indicators that is designed to measure Local Environmental Quality (LEA) of a local area, and it covers litter, detritus, graffiti and fly-posting
Keep Britain Tidy LEQ teams carry out an independent survey within each local authority area. The process involves assessing the cleanliness of randomly selected streets, green spaces and car parks adjacent to these roads are also assessed and scored.
The contents of littered bins are also noted as are the Adverse Environmental Quality Indicators (AEQIs) such as fly-posting, graffiti, dog fouling, vandalism, weeds and debris.
Hounslow’s scores for 2009/10 for street cleaning and graffiti have improved significantly from the previous year:

Cllr Barbara Reid said, “This survey is all about measuring the cleanliness of the local environment, as a member of the public would see it. Therefore I am delighted that we have made real progress in this vitally important area.”
