Reynard Mills Housing Development To Go To Public Inquiry


Company appealing against Council planning refusal

Proposals for a large new housing development on the Ealing/Brentford border will now be decided by the Planning Inspector.

The company LP (Brentford) Ltd - part of Invista Property Foundation Trust - want permission to demolish the existing buildings at Reynard Mills Trading Estate on Windmill Road and build 275 new properties.

In April, Hounslow Council rejected the company's second, slightly scaled down application, claiming it would not improve the character and quality of the area.

According to rejection document (pdf) the density and size of the development would still be harmful and the housing structure would put undue strain on local education and health facilities.

The news was welcomed by residents from both Ealing and Brentford who have inundated local councillors with hundreds of emails.

They share concerns over the scale and density of the housing development and fear that hundreds more residents would result in more traffic problems in an already highly congested residential area.

Last month LP (Brentford) Ltd held a consultation exercise and they have now decided to exercise their right to appeal against Hounslow Council's refusal to grant planning permission.

A public inquiry will be held on a date yet to be announced but the Planning Inspectorate has issued an “Appeal Start Date” of 6th July. This means all submissions, applications to speak and initial proofs of evidence must be with them within 6 weeks of that date.
