Major Fire Hits Brentford

Blaze hits kosher food processing plant on Layton Road

A huge black plume of smoke loomed over Brentford this morning following a serious fire at a factory on Layton Road.

The affected building is believed to be a kosher food processing plant. There is some concern that gas cannisters may be on the premises but we have not been informed that an evacuation is being considered.

The fire is visible from the M4 and the location is close to junction 2.

At this stage there are no indications of any casualties and the emergency services were on the scene including a police helicopter. Over 60 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze which was believed to have started at around 9.30am.

There are no reports as yet of any traffic diversions in the area apart from on Layton Road.
