Motorcyclist Killed on M4


Severe delays in area following accident

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the M4 on 2nd July.

Officers were called at approx 7.15am to reports of a motorcycle in collision with an industrial vehicle on the M4 eastbound at junction 2 near Brentford.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been named as Michael Bennett Smith aged 47, a jeweller from Lower Earley, Reading. The driver of the other vehicle was not arrested.

The accident caused the closure of the M4 between junction 1 (Chiswick roundabout) and junction 3 leading to traffic problems across West London.
