Applications have to be in by the end of the month
Parents and carers of more than 3,000 children across the borough have less than two weeks left to apply for a place at one of the borough’s secondary schools.
With all local secondary schools rated either outstanding or good by Ofsted, demand for places is high, and parents and carers are being reminded that they have until 31 October 2014 to apply for a place starting in September 2015.
Cllr Tom Bruce, cabinet member for education and children’s services at Hounslow Council, said:
“Hounslow is one of only a few places in the country where every secondary school is rated as outstanding or good by Ofsted.
“This shows the real value we – the council, schools and families – place on education, which is vital in giving our children and young people the best possible start in life.”
Parents and carers are encouraged to apply easily and securely at www.hounslow.gov.uk/admissions which not only allows them to review and make changes to their applications up to midnight on the closing date, but also means they will be emailed their offer in the evening of 2 March – the day the decision letters are posted.
Parents and carers have six preferences to make, and are encouraged to use them all. If places are not available at one of the named schools, children will be allocated a place at a school with vacancies.
Submitting a late application greatly reduces the chance of a child being offered of a place at a preferred school.
