Former local MP elevated to the upper chamber of the House
Former MP for the Ealing, Acton and Shepherd's Bush constituency, Clive Soley has been awarded a peerage by Tony Blair.
The Acton based politician who is a former chairman of the Labour party and was a loyal if independently minded supporter of the Prime Minister is wondering whether he will be the first 'blogging lord'.
He has been running a web blog for over a year now on which he regularly updated constituents on his thoughts and engaged in discussion on a range of issues with people on line.
He aims to be a reforming member of the Lords saying on his elevation, "I want a hybrid House, part elected and part appointed. The elected part should be on a regional basis and the appointed members should be selected either through the Independent Appointments Commission for non party members and the Party ones by the Parties themselves."
The peers created this time around mean that for the first time in history the Labour party have a majority in the Upper Chamber.
