The highlights are the private view of the ‘Time For Others’ photography exhibition on Monday 2nd June; and the opening of the Volunteers’ Fayre by Steve Pound M.P. on Saturday 7th June, at 11.00am.
Other activities include the presentation of ‘Thank You’ certificates to volunteers; the launch of a Trustees Register; a leaflet-drop promoting volunteering on the Islip Manor Estate; and drop-in sessions throughout the week, at the library, for the Borough’s future volunteers to find out more about volunteering in the C21st.
Rt. Hon. Tony Blair MP, the Prime Minister, praised local
volunteers saying, “they make a huge difference to the society we live
in. Volunteers Week allows us, as a nation, to recognise and reward the
invaluable work done by volunteers and hopefully inspire more people to
give time in the future."
Lizzie Saunders, Manager of Ealing Volunteer Bureau, said “EVB is a brokering
service between the organisations that register their ‘volunteer vacancies’
with us, and the members of the public who have time for others – hence
the title of our photography exhibition in the library, which is open
all week - and is a display by TVU’s photography students of volunteering
activity in Ealing in 2003.”
If you are interested in volunteering in Ealing Borough, or have a ‘volunteer-vacancy’,
please contact Lizzie Saunders on lizzie@ealingcvs.org.uk
or telephone 0208 579 6273. For volunteering with organisations in Hounslow,
where there are numerous opportunities, you can visit the Hounslow Volunteer
Agency website at www.volunteerhounslow.org.uk,

or ring (020) 8583 2626."
The two local agencies that coordinate volunteer work
locally have recently been awarded by the Volunteer Development England.
Volunteer Development England is the membership association for volunteer
bureaux in England. The Hounslow Volunteer Agency (HVA) and the Ealing
Volunteer Bureau were given the Outstanding Achievement Award.
