Landscape Gardening and Horticulture Traineeship

Taster sessions with Cultivate London based in Acton

Cultivate London

Cultivate London are now recruiting for our March 2015 Landscape Gardening and Horticulture Traineeship (2nd March – 22nd May 2015).

The Traineeship is delivered in partnership with our training partners Redwood Skills and Green Corridor. Three months long, it comprises a 2.5 month work placement with Cultivate London and a 2-week work placement at another enterprise, as well as accredited training and qualifications in Horticulture, and Maths and English.

While at Cultivate London, trainees learn a wide range of basic horticulture skills and are involved in many aspects of the running of our award-winning social enterprise, including seed sowing and harvesting, as well as landscape gardening work and farmers market sales. This is augmented with a qualification in Horticulture from Green Corridor, and qualifications in Maths and English from Redwood Skills.

Following the 2.5 months with Cultivate London, trainees are matched with a suitable local business, where they will complete a two-week work placement.  Examples of businesses with whom we are collaborating to provide work experience are Amey (who hold a contract with Ealing Council), Walpole Gardens, Chiswick House Gardens and Octink, among others.

Training takes place across Hounslow and Ealing and takes place Monday to Friday (10am - 4pm).  One day is spent each with Redwood Skills and Green Corridor, and three days are spent working at Cultivate London or on work experience. All expenses are covered, including lunch, travel and equipment costs.

This is a great first step to becoming work-ready, and is a fantastic option for youth who are looking to get out there and try something new, while building their CV.

Also, brand new this year is the chance for youth to take part in Cultivate London's PAID Internship programme upon completion of our volunteer programme in May.  We will be offering two paid placements within our core business to two trainee graduates who demonstrate a keen interest in what we do, and a willingness to work hard.  Internships will be three months long, and will provide interns the opportunity for more in-depth participation in our award-winning social enterprise.  It will look great on a CV too!

If you or anyone you know might be interested in taking part, come join us for a "taster session" during May 12-14th.

Everyone (16-24 years old) is welcome, regardless of horticulture experience, and no commitment is required. We simply offer them the opportunity to come down and work with us for an afternoon, see how things work at Cultivate London. You can then decide whether the program might be for them.
