The team at the Acton centre which will see an expansion of its gym
February 10, 2026
Leisure centres across the borough of Ealing are set for upgrades after Everyone Active secured a new 10-year contract to continue managing the borough’s sports and fitness facilities.
The agreement, which begins on Sunday 1 March, includes a £2.5 million investment programme aimed at modernising gyms, improving studios and enhancing the overall customer experience at sites throughout the borough.
Everyone Active, which has operated Ealing Council’s leisure centres since 2013, will continue running key venues including Acton Centre, Northolt Leisure Centre, Dormers Wells Leisure Centre and Brent Valley Golf Course and Fitness Centre. The company will also maintain management of Reynolds Sports Centre, Elthorne Sports Centre, Greenford Sports Centre, Perivale Park Athletics Track and Swift Road Outdoor Sports Centre, ensuring continuity for residents who use these facilities regularly.
The investment will bring significant improvements to Acton Centre, where the main gym will be expanded by around 50 per cent and fitted with a much larger free weights area. Gym and studio spaces will be upgraded, and a new Reformer Studio will be introduced to offer a dedicated space for this increasingly popular form of exercise. Northolt Leisure Centre will also see its gym enlarged and its fitness equipment modernised to create a more inclusive and contemporary environment.
Dormers Wells Leisure Centre will benefit from a refreshed main gym and an improved women’s-only gym, providing more accessible and flexible spaces for individual workouts and group classes. At Brent Valley Golf Course and Fitness Centre, the main gym will be refurbished and reconfigured to improve capacity and the flow of equipment.
Across all sites, further enhancements will include upgraded group exercise studios, improvements to wet changing facilities and redesigned layouts intended to create more versatile and engaging spaces for users. The refurbishment works will be phased to minimise disruption and are expected to be completed by autumn 2026.
Phil Edwards, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said the new agreement reflects a long-term commitment to improving leisure provision in Ealing. He said the investment programme would modernise facilities, expand capacity where demand is growing and introduce new activities designed to enhance the customer experience. He added that residents would continue to be supported by the same experienced teams while benefiting from upgraded, inclusive and welcoming spaces.
Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, welcomed the investment, saying the borough’s leisure centres play a vital role in helping residents stay healthy and active. She said the improvements would make facilities more accessible, modern and inviting, and that the long-term partnership with Everyone Active would support wellbeing across the community for years to come.
Alongside the physical upgrades, Everyone Active will continue its Sporting Champions scheme, which provides free access and mentoring to help aspiring athletes reach their potential. The organisation will also maintain its inclusive membership programme, offering complimentary memberships for cared-for children and care-experienced young people, free access for people living with Parkinson’s and their carers, and discounted rates for NHS staff, emergency service workers, full-time carers and Universal Credit recipients.
