Commander Moves To Neighbouring Borough

Ali Dizaei's imminent transfer to Hammersmith & Fulham confirmed

It has been announced that Chief Superintendent Ali Dizaei is to transfer to Hammersmith & Fulham Borough imminently.

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner broke the news at the Borough Community Police Consultative Group held on Monday 14th May.

Commenting on the transfer, Ali Dizaei said, "It has been fantastic working in Hounslow and I have thoroughly enjoyed working here and we have made it one of the best in the Met.

"It's been fantastic working with the officers, but Hammersmith and Fulham is a bigger borough with bigger challenges and more police officers. So what I hope to do is develop in the same way as we have done here and in some ways I am looking forward to doing the same there."

Dizaei was passed over for the job of winning over the “hearts and minds” of the Muslim community for the police in favour of what some consider to be a less-qualified white officer at the end of last year. Commenting on this, he said, “Two to three years is the normal term for a borough commander. I am ready to move on should the right thing come up.”

His role in Hammersmith & Fulham will be the same as it was in Hounslow and he will retain the title of Borough Commander. The precise date for his transfer has not been set although it is understood that it will be in the next few weeks. His successor is yet to be appointed.

Dizaei's controversial book, Not one of Us, was published in February and contains a passage about his time in Hounslow.
