Alice Gross' mother supports new fundraising initiative
The mother of the murdered Hanwell teenager, Alice Gross, has given her backing to, and sings on, a new record for the Missing People charity.
The Missing People choir, made up of families with loved ones who have disappeared, have produced the song 'I Hope' inspired by the words of Kevin Gosden whose son Andrew went missing at the age of 14 in 2007.
Alice, also 14, disappeared in August 2014 sparking a huge local search, her body was found a month later.
Alice's mum, Ros Hodkiss, says the charity helped family and friends at a very difficult time:
'' It has been an absolute privilege to sing with the Missing People choir on the single 'I hope'. The charity is very close to my heart; it supported us while Alice was missing and offers a lifeline to families experiencing this trauma.
''The choir sang a beautiful version of Alice's song, 'Don't Let us Go Away' at the Missing People Christmas carol service, which I felt honoured Alice's memory and I have joined them since.
''Although I am not a natural singer I find singing helps me to connect to Alice and her love of music, and being in the choir has given me the support of others who have experienced the pain of extraordinary loss. Please support the charity by downloading the single .''
‘I Hope' is available for pre-order now in Itunes, and will be released on Friday 20 May ahead of International Missing Children's Day (25 May) with profits going to the charity Missing People's ‘Find Every Child' campaign.
An average of 140,000 children go missing in the UK every year and the campaign is aiming to be able to reach every one of them
