Household collection continues but recycling centres in Acton and Greenford closed
Ealing Council have closed the recycling centres in Stirling Road, Acton and Greenford until further notice.
They are advising residents to store anything that they would normally take to these dumps such as DIY waste until restrictions on non-essential travel are listed.
Rubbish and recycling collections including garden waste are continuing as normal at present.
Meanwhile, the bulky waste collection service is currently still operating so residents can book this service online at www.ealing.gov.uk/recycling.
Councillor Mik Sabiers, the council’s cabinet member for environment, said, “The council is continuing to work hard to keep the streets clean, keep collecting your rubbish and make sure your recycling bins continue to be emptied as often as possible, while protecting the health of all our workers as well as the general public.
“But, because most of us are now staying at home, it seems likely that this will create more household waste and put pressure on our recycling and waste services. Please check the council website for updates to the service and try to minimise the amount of rubbish, recycling and food waste you produce.
“Every bit you can reduce will make a real difference to maintaining a good service for everyone.”
